The Human Resources Analyst will support the human resources efforts in the compensation and classification areas and will play an integral part in ensuring the above mission and values hold true. Specifically, this role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and educating on the University’s compensation and classification systems. This includes ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including reporting requirements, as well as the consistent application of the University’s classifications and compensation standards. This role will be responsible for various analytical and reporting accountabilities associated with the compensation and classification systems. This role will also be responsible for ensuring the education, training, and communication with employees, managers, and leadership on matters related to compensation. Additionally, this role will act in a support role in the maintenance of employee benefit programs as it relates to total rewards.

Salary Range: 50,000-60,000

Detailed Description:

  • Develops and finalizes new and revised job classification specifications; conducts background research, classification and salary surveys, job analyses, and related analytical work to inform the process; and coordinates and tracks pending requests to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in the organization; ensures descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed by incumbents; determines job classification as exempt or non-exempt.
  • Uses published or conducts ad hoc surveys to obtain and analyze market pay rates. Makes recommendations on appropriate pay grade level. Reviews recommendations within context for internal equity. Prepares reports on findings and handles administrative steps to formalize recommendations.
  • Benchmarks jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position.
  • Advise on recommendations for and carries out the implementation, communication, and administration of the Universitys compensation and classification systems.
  • Consult with University leadership, administration, and managers as needed for the development, maintenance, and education of the Universitys compensation and classification system(s).
  • Assist efforts as it relates to employee benefit programs and their maintenance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

Experience

  • Seven years, minimum, of full-time professional experience in human resources as a generalist and/or specialist.
  • At least 3 years in the analysis, design, and/or administration of compensation and/or classification programs.
  • Recognized excellence in customer service methods and procedures.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Deductive Reasoning & Critical Thinking — The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Analyzing Data or Information — Identifying the underlying principles, reasons, or facts of information by breaking down information or data into separate parts.
  • Oral and Written Comprehension — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Problem Sensitivity — The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong and ensuring the appropriate amount(s), if any, of confidentiality required.
  • Interacting with Computers — Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to administer and maintain the University’s compensation and classification information.

Preferred:

  • Professional experience working with compensation and classification systems.
  • Professional experience educating various stakeholders on compensation and classification related topics.
  • Professional experience with compensation and classification studies, including working with professional organizations to identify, develop, and implement comp and class systems.
  • Professional experience with compensation and/or classification compliance with federal and/or state regulation.
  • Professional experience managing or providing support to an organizations employee health insurance programs and/or health insurance billing.
  • Professional project-management experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Compensation Professional, SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or related certification.
